What time is it for you? For your son or daughter? For your students?

It's Launch-time.

Services for new & near grads

Are you nervous about entering the work force? Unsure of how to proceed? Maybe you've got a resume that's not getting any responses. Or you've been to some career fairs, and none of the jobs are resonating with you.  You know it's launch-time...but have you taken the time to figure out where you'll really fit in?

My name is Kristin Snow, and I can help. The biggest stumbling block to finding a job is not knowing yourself well enough to determine what you'll be good at. I'll work with you, either in-person, google hang-out or on the phone, to come up with a solution. It will be a casual discussion about your likes and dislikes, your skills and knowledge, and your hopes and dreams.

Then we'll get practical. I'll go over typical structures in corporations, non-profits, start-ups and other organizations, and talk about where you might fit in. We'll also drill down into the details of jobs and job functions. Finally, we'll talk about business areas that are in need of staff, which will increase your ability to get hired. Somewhere along the line, you'll sense a match between who you are, where you'll feel both comfortable and engaged, and what might be a viable entry point to your emerging career.

From here, we'll create your "Launch-box," a set of tools you'll use to create your personal brand - your resume, cover letter, interview narrative and social profiles. These will be flexible documents you can easily change, depending on the job you're applying for. We'll also come up with a strategy for searching for jobs, and together, we'll track the ones you've applied for through a google sheet. Throughout the job hunt process, I'll be searching for and placing jobs on the sheet, and provide ongoing coaching to ensure you stay on track.

Placing STEM students may be a little easier than finding first-time jobs for those in Liberal Arts. But Liberal Arts skills are highly adaptable to the workforce. I offer the following presentations to bolster Liberal Arts students' knowledge of various workplaces, what jobs exist within them and how well-suited the students are to those jobs.

Presentations

Finding the Perfect Corporate Fit

In this presentation, I go over how corporations are structured, the jobs within major departments, and day-to-day activities those jobs entail. I discuss entry-level skills needed to acquire particular jobs and best-case personality matches for them. I end this and each presentation with job hunting strategies. This presentation is particularly good for students of any major who have not yet had corporate work experience.

Finding the Perfect Non-Profit Fit

This presentation covers how non-profits are structured, the jobs within major departments, and day-to-day activities those jobs entail. I discuss entry-level skills needed to acquire particular jobs and best-case personality matches for them. I end this and each presentation with job hunting strategies. A great introduction for anyone interested in entering the non-profit world.

Marketing: One Department, Different Jobs

Corporate marketing  teams are made up of a variety of jobs that require different skill sets. Students will learn about each of these jobs, and best-case personality and skill matches for them. I end this and each presentation with job hunting strategies. Ideal for Liberal Arts majors, but may also be of interest to anyone who wants to transition from their major into Marketing.

Getting Your Foot In the Marketing Door Through Technology Skills

What are the marketing technology skills every grad should have? And what are the jobs that use these skills? Technology covered includes CMS, CRM, email marketing, social media and digital marketing management systems, and how to attain introductory system knowledge for free. I end this and each presentation with job hunting strategies. This presentation helps Liberal Arts majors learn how to bolster their marketability through technology, but may also be of interest to anyone who wants to leverage their technology knowledge in Marketing.

Yes, You Can Make a Living Writing

In this presentation, I go over twelve writing-related jobs in the business world. I discuss the writing styles and personality types required of these jobs, and the industries in which to find these jobs. I end this and each presentation with job hunting strategies.
